Brilliant Darkness

João Magueijo’s new book, “A Brilliant Darkness” (Basic Books, Perseus for the American edition and Rizzoli for the Italian one) investigates the scientist Ettore Majorana’s life, scientific discoveries and mysterious disappearance with a both objective and informal manner. The same manner used to represent some specific content through illustrations which have been made after designing a “scientific dictionary” resulting friendly but easy to understand at the same time.

“Magueijo writes in an unusually loose and candid way, and the book is filled with whimsical—yet effective—cartoons to explain the quantum dance of subatomic particles.”
